5d mark iii vs 6d iso
I didn't miss my 6D after getting the 5D3 some years ago, but it had great IQ. 5D3 also has dual card slots and other advantages.

The 30 second test ( original is here ): 30 second Canon EOS 6D and Canon EOS 5D Mark III High ISO test by Don Marcotte images stretched to display noise more clearly. Created 400px X 400px crops and applied Gamma3.0 in CS5. Nevertheless, a photo won't be any good if it is out of focus, and the 5D3 has significantly better AF than the 6D. RAW images converted to 16 bit TIFFs by Canon Digital Photo Professional. However, I think the 6D did have a more significant edge in low light. While I love the 6Ds, the difference in image quality between it and the 5D3 is very small. Is there some technical specifications that Canon doesn't release that makes the 6D better in these aspects? As the Great B says, the difference is inconsequential and I would agree with that for the 99.99% of folks who want to wield their cameras like machine guns and think tripods, timers and cable releases are uncool. One of the bigger questions that we get now that Canon has an entry level DSLR, in the form of the Canon 6D, is regarding if people should choose the 6D or the Canon 5D Mk III. Depends on how much of a pixel peeper you are. On paper the 5D Mark III is 'better' in many ways than the 6D, but the question that you need to ask yourself is not which camera is better, but which camera is better or your needs. The only technical difference I can find between the two (image-wise) is the 5D mk III has slightly higher max resolution and slightly a slightly higher megapixel count (which shouldn't matter, right?) Just because I can, let's compare the sharpness, resolution and high-ISO performance of the world's best DSLR, the Canon 5D Mark III using the world's sharpest midrange zoom, the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L II lens (2,300, or 5,800 total) to Canon's cheapest: the Canon Rebel SL1 and 18-55mm STM kit lens (249, or 699 total as a kit with the SL1). They both have the same Digic 5+ Processor.

how is this possible? They both have the same full frame sensor size. The optical viewfinder in the Canon EOS 6D isn't a full size (97 vs 100) viewfinder like the 5D Mark III, however it does have the benefit of allowing it to be swapped out for an alternative. I have read across many different posts that the 6D has better image quality and better low-light performance than the 5D mk III. Ain't the same thing really although it is a feature that can help obtain better IQ in circumstances that lend themselves to such a feature as would the afore-referenced features of the 5D3 that can help obtain better image quality. The 6D has the ability to focus to -3 EV which many have translated into a better low light IQ. Shortening that exposure time is a really big deal when imaging. And has features that may help obtain better image quality in real world applications. I can only say that the 5D II needed about to a 2 minute exposure to capture what the 60Da could get in about 30 seconds (using the same ISO). I have not tested my 5D III against the 60Da, but that would be an interesting comparison. I think that below article comparing 6d to 5dm3 (and later also to 5dm2) at iso 3200 & 6400 with 15 sec & 30 sec exposur. Even better still would be to use a camera with no filter (use a filter wheel on the scope to control the bandpass) and of course the bayer mask used to record color is diminishing the performance as well (if you're using a filter wheel, you don't need a bayer mask.) I know this topic is long dead, but somehow I was searching more comparisons at night shooting scenario between 6d vs 5dm3 and came across that topic (also in this forums here).

The standard low-pass filter blocks a lot of the light that astro-imagers want. not sensor) that the 60Da can capture an image in substantially less time (I had tripled the exposure time on the 5D II vs what was used on the 60Da and it still hadn't captured as much light as the 60Da). The filter on the 60Da is so much better (filter.

I tested a 5D II and tested it against the 60Da for astrophotography and was blown away by the difference.

The one issue this ignores is the amount of time necessary to create an exposure.
